After spending the night in Buffalo, it’s a 4 hour drive to Badlands National Park. Halfway there, we decided to stop for lunch in the town of Spearfish.
With a population of 11,000 people, this town has a number of decent veggie-friendly options. We chose: Bay Leaf Café, and were quite happy. This nice little town is situated in the Black Hills, sort of between Mount Rushmore and Devil’s Tower. Apparently, its claim to fame is fly fishing along with other outdoor activities.
They had nice art covering the walls and pretty upscale menu.
It’s a popular lunch spot so was busy; and the waitstaff seemed a bit harried and distracted, but the meal was worth the wait.
We ordered the cold veggie sandwich and eggplant marinara over pasta, both entrees came with yummy side dish choices and we chose cole slaw and creamed spinach soup – Yumm!
