Hoover Dam is probably the most famous dam in the US. Built during the depression, it was and still is a monument to the feats of construction and natural manipulation humans can accomplish if they just don’t give up.
It’s really big, it’s really wide, and there are a ton of people who want to see it on any given day. The day we passed by here was no different. It was very crowded, so we drove around a bit to find a parking space and marveled at Hoover Dam. (This is just one of many dams we’ve seen on this trip, and it is definitely the most managed, with museum, gift shop, boat tours and strictly controlled visitor observation areas.)
