We went to the Jimi Hendrix Experience Tour at Pikes Peak Performance Center. It’s a massive show to honor the music of Hendrix – With an absolutely amazing lineup, including Joe Satriani, Taj Mahal, Dweezil Zappa, Eric Johnson, Jonny Lang, Doyle Bramhall II, Mato Nanji, Calvin Cooke and more – I mean, it was Ahhhmaaazzzzinngg!
We got really great balcony box seats and we just sat back and enjoyed the show.
We needed a restaurant within easy walking distance. Springs Orleans is an excellent nearby location, with an upscale atmosphere.
Only one vegetarian entrée on the menu: the Impossible po’ boy. Actually, it’s just a simple Impossible burger. But it’s quite tasty, and the thin-cut fries are seasoned perfectly. You must ask for remoulade sauce with everything, it makes an amazing difference.
Their drinks are also perfectly done. So yummy we tried four different old-fashioned-style “Pre-Prohibition” cocktails, and of course a Hurricane made with real passionfruit juice (not just a mix). Happy Hour ends at 6pm though, so get your mix-n-match two-for-one drinks before then! Otherwise, it’s ~$11 per cocktail, which although tasty, is a little too steep for our taste.
The beignets were ok, but not as light & fluffy as one could hope for. (Kate loved them just the same.)
We likely won’t be visiting this restaurant often, or ever again, since their veg options are so limited, but we might stop by for happy hour and beignets 😉
